My personal Development plan BTEC L3 IT

Firstly, I will start with communication skills. Because communication skills are my first target set on personal development plan. For me its priority is high as well.  Currently I need lots of improvement to enhance my communication skills. From 16/10/12 I have started reading novels and books which helped me to improve my reading and comprehending skills.
Additionally, I used my Iphone and installed English learning app on it. This learning English app is very helpful because it helps me to increase my listening skills. Next, I also ask my English teacher to help me to increase my communication skills. My teacher suggested me to look at this website www.home-speech-home.com. After three week I started realizing that I have increased my communication skills. I started coping my teacher and used word and vocabulary that I have never used before.
Secondly, I included driving skills in my personal development plan. I starting learning driving on 22/10/12 and after taking two driving lessons with my instructor I was able to drive car with the traffic. I was bit scared of driving as well but after talking some lesson I started enjoying driving on the road. My instructor taught my about manoeuvres like turning in the road, parallel parking, and etc. I also learned about how to control clutch on hills. Finally after taking 20 lessons with my instructor I booked a Practical test on 29/11/12. Pleased to tell you that passed the test and will receive driving licence within next 2 weeks.
Next, I will talk about the progress of my cricket skills. According to my personal development plan I started keeping record of my cricket skill from 1/11/12.  Our college arranged cricket training twice in a week. I think it is a great opportunity for to increase my cricket skills. I do batting and bowling during one hour training which definitely enhance my experience and practice of playing cricket. But our college still needs arrange a coach for us to increase our cricket skills. I watched master class coaching video from different websites, which helped me a lot. In last three week I have increased my bowling pace and speed. I also have increase my playing stamina and now I am able to do bating for long hours.
Not only that, there is another advantage of playing cricket that it helps me to increase my fitness level. It was not planned in my personal development plan for fitness section. However cricket is helpful to keep me fit and healthy.
Furthermore, IT skill is another objective of my personal development plan. I already have necessary IT skills before setting this target but I think I still need to improve my IT skills. From 11/10/12 I started using serif Photo plus. After some week I was able to crop the background of a picture effectively and used another readymade background behind in picture. Along with that I also learned about serif draw plus. After reading the user guidance book I was able use brush tool and artistic text tool. Not only that, I am also able to import and export pictures in both serif draw plus and serif photo plus.
To extend, I also am now able to create basic website using Microsoft SharePoint. Last year I used note pad to create website but now I am able to use SharePoint to create website.
Next, I watched a video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsveMWRdNxo) about how to create partition of a hard drive while installing new window. So then I was able to create of the partition of a hard disk. I am also now able to install window 7 on my Laptop. But I still need to improve my IT skills further. Hopefully I will be able install Avira antivirus and scan my laptop with it.
Planning skills and integrity, at the moment I try to plan every task before I start it. This helps me to make my task easy to do without any stoppage. However, I still need to improve my planning skills because if I am able to plan better than I can do my task effectively. I do not need improve in integrity necessarily as I always have done my tasks before deadlines. But I still need it to make sure I meet my next coming deadline E.g.3rd Dec 2012.
Unfortunately, I have not increased my working skills (work experience) yet. But hopefully I have an opportunity to go for work experience in December. Then I will also visit some local shop in my area to see how works do their jobs. However I have learned about Health and Safety law for employer and employee. There was point which was not written in my personal development plan. Work experience will also help me to increase working confidence which is an advantage of it.
Another skill which is team working was included in my personal development plan. I have improved my team working because I was part of my class team to create a computer model. I helped my classmates in create all parts of computer. Then I also searched on internet to find out information about computer parts. We shared our task effectively and were able to create the model before deadline. Another thing which found working there was that I also increased my IT skills and it was not included in personal development plan.
I have improved my attendance in last three weeks. On 1/11/12 my attendance was 80% and now it has improved to 85%. But I still need to improve my attendance to over 90%. Hopefully I will be able to get this target by next two months.
There are three particular areas where I strictly need improvement. These are Communication skills, presentational skills, and Confidence level.
Firstly, Communicational skills are very important for everyone to convey the messages and to understand the messages. According to my targets in PDP I have only improve my listening skill and reading skills. However I still need improvement in other parts of communication such as speaking and writing. I asked my teacher about it and he suggested me to write an essay everyday and bring it to me. Secondly my teacher also told me to talk with people who can speak English effectively and accurately. Now I have started following my teacher’s suggestion and I hope this will be helpful for improving speaking and writing skills.
Secondly, presentational skills are also very important for students at college and universities. Because they need do presentational about different topics to done there task. Not only at college or university, presentations are also required at employment. So I believe it is very important for me to have good presentational skill. With my current plan I have only made limited improvement in my presentational skills. But for my own benefit, I further need to improve my presentational skill. I think need more experience and preparation to do presentation effectively. I will also ask my teacher about the techniques that are used to do presentation effectively.
Thirdly, Confidence level is an area where I need massive improvement. Confidence is required in every field to do the task accurately, impressively and effectively. I think low confidence is the reason for my limited presentational and communicational skills. So I strongly need to improve in this area. In order to improve my confidence level I need to believe in myself and I need to open and relieved. My business teacher told me to share your ideas in the class and try giving feed back when she teaches our class.
This personal development plan was very effective and it allowed me to differentiate my weaknesses and strengths. Personal development plan also helped me to improve my attendance. It was really helpful to me. By setting targets in personal development plan I was able to manage my time effectively and increased different skills time by time. I believe I will continue using PDP in future because it keeps me on track.
